Walk-Ins Welcome

When was the last time you opened the door for somebody else?

Don't misunderstand me, now. I'm not talking about a door to a car, or to a room or to a building. I'm talking about the kind of door you can't see.

This week I was buying a few items at a grocery store in Macon. I was in the express line, with no one behind or in front of me. "Hello," the cashier said, smiling broadly. "Just another lousy day, I guess."

Now, I recognized a chance to mention our God. Was I scared? Sure- happens every time. Did I want to just keep it to myself? Sure- happens every time.

"No," I said. "God has really blessed us in a lot of ways." I was so proud I spoke.

Well, it was as if I was opening the door for this young lady.

And she walked right through it. "Really, that's true. God has done a lot for me lately." She smiled as if to say, "Hey! I witnessed to my faith! I actually did it!"

Sometimes when we include God, the most important part of our lives, in our conversations, it does more good than we planned. We may be giving someone else an opportunity to witness to their faith.

When is the last time you opened the door for somebody else?
