No Food This Sunday

One of my pastor friends in a nearby church has had a persistent problem in his congregation. He said it looks like folks take turns coming to church. He may see a family for two weeks in a row, then invariably the third Sunday they'll be absent. Others come every other week. Some only miss once a month. Others come to church every Sunday, unless relatives are visiting.

Sounds like a food problem to me.

Personally, I've got to be in church every week, even on vacation. It's food for my soul. It's nourishment for my Christian life. Missing church, to me, is like missing a spiritual meal. If people skipped meals as much as they skipped church, obesity would soon cease to be a problem in this country!

Tell you what: The next time your sinful nature tries to tempt you to misss church for little or no reason, promise yourself that you will not eat that Sunday. Simply decide that if you skip your spiritual food, you'll skip your physical food, too. That's only fair, right?

Either you'll be in church or you'll lose that weight you've been trying to shed for so long.

Seriously, friends, gathering together to worship God is a feast for our souls. Come every Sunday. Don't miss a meal!
