NASCAR Faith

Believe it or not, the professional hockey and basketball seasons are finally over. Time flies. Now you can concentrate on baseball and NASCAR!

I'd like to tell you that Jeff Gordon will win the next race, but no one can be sure. A quote from a recent movie on Dale Earnhart sticks in my mind: "The race doesn't always go to the fastest, but to the one who refuses to lose." That's not quite Scripture, but it has that sound to it! It's almost like, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) Faith is like refusing to lose, isn't it? It's never giving up on God, because He is completely reliable.

Here's more. "Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it." (I Corinthians 9:24), and in Hebrews 12:1: "Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us."

We know what our race is like. We want to get closer and closer to Christ. We want to bring as many as we can to know the abundant life God intends for us all. We want to share God's love with the needy.

Run the good race, fight the good fight. Run to win.
