Extra Sunshine

April 29, 2023

On a beautiful day in March, we decided to visit a few strawberry patches. I never would have guessed we’d end up with so much more.

We planned our route carefully. There would be four stops, saving our taste for fresh strawberry ice cream until the last stop. Plus, we would stop at our friend Mindy’s new coffee shop for lunch, the first time we’d gotten near her small town in a while.

At the first berry patch the strawberries were just gorgeous! We had to hold back, couldn’t buy all we needed here!

We went on to the coffee shop. We had to wait just a few minutes, but the only girl working handled the customers efficiently and without getting flustered. Hey, they had a t-shirt with the shop’s logo, with only one in my size! I had to get it! As we ate our lunch at the picnic table outside, one of our best friend drove by! He joined us for a good visit.

On to the next stop. We wouldn’t buy any strawberries there, but they had the world’s best muscadine slushies.

The next berry patch had no strawberries! We bought a few jars of jam. Surprisingly, they sold fresh cage-free eggs. Brown? Not here, some of these were blue, some light green, some white, and some brown! They had fresh asparagus, but we’d never cooked that. Not a problem, she explained how to do it, gave us a simple recipe for hollandaise sauce, and didn’t charge us a cent for the asparagus!

Our last stop was for strawberries, and would they have strawberry ice cream? Yes! Delicious!

I learned a long time ago that God is generous. I didn’t expect a shirt my size, or a visit from an old friend, or asparagus and learning how to cook it.

“My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory.” Philippians 4:19
