Doing Life
Life is full of brush fires. There are always little emergencies to attend to. Only rarely does everything go right! Besides the emergencies, life is full of little duties. A lot of our time is spent on paying bills, being at the right place at the right time, making sure our children are at the right place at the right time. It's no wonder that many of us feel like we're not in charge of our life. When will we get to do wat WE want to do?
Force yourself to take at least an hour one day to decide what your mission in life is. If you don't know where you're going, how will you know when you get there? Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life, states the obvious: Your life is about pleasing God! So how will you do that? Think it through, then write it down. It probably will sound something like this: "My mission is to live life abundantly as God's child, by serving God effectively as a (teacher, carpenter, preacher, husband, whatever)." Or maybe it will be more like, "My aim is to know God and follow God, in my home and at work and in my church." Then decide what steps you'll have to take to accomplish your life's mission, and decide whyat Step One is.
Now you're getting somewhere.
