Do I Know You?

1. I see a lot of quizzes on social media lately. We are asked to reveal quirky things about ourselves in response to twenty questions. “Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?” “How many tattoos do you have?” “Would you rather eat Italian or Chinese?”

I don’t participate often in these, but isn’t it fun to read the answers of people we know? I suppose we are a nosy and curious society.

more than that, we long to be known. We want to know that we are loved enough that people want to know us deeply.

2. Church attendance is down. Many thought the answer would be to change to a format containing updated music. That worked for awhile, but it’s faltering. The exception is contemporary churches with a strong small-group ministry. Small groups deepen friendship.

3. Isn’t it amazing that people tend to sit in the same seat. In church each week? People seem to know what is the perfect angle and distance from the podium for them.

4. The majority of church attenders will not attend a Sunday School class or other small group meeting.

5. Conclusion: People need friendship. Deepen your relationship with those who sit near you in church. You may become their lifeline. If you’re not a church attender, recognize an opportunity!
