Never a Bad Word

It's a lie, I know, but it's a sweet lie. I know you've heard it, too.

During the eulogy at a funeral, the speaker might dare to say of the deceased, "She never said a bad word about anyone."

It's just representative of what the person was like. We all get frustrated at the customer service person on the other end of the telephone conversation sometimes.

Anyone might be outraged at a huge increase in price for a favorite item. Even our favorite niece can sometimes vex us.

Still, there are those that rarely, rarely say an unkind word about another person. They see the best in us when it is deeply hidden. They forgive almost instantly. I'm thankful to know some people like that, because they are a needed reminder of how God is.

God always loves us. I don't really understand that. We can be slow to share our faith, thus keeping someone else from knowing about God. We can spread incomplete truths about other people, thus hurting their hard-earned good reputation. We can go days and days, treating God like just another friend. Still, God loves us like we'd never erred. It doesn't make sense, but I like it.

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, not things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
