Mature and Colorful

It seems that a lot of older men wear colorful clothes, and as they grow older, the clothes get even more colorful.

I used to wonder if it had

something to do with increasingly drab lives. That's unfair. Their lives may look dull to young adults, but not to those of us with a little age ourselves. Maybe they don't move at the speed they once did, but they've learned what is really fun (that doesn't have a hangover effect later).

A senior adult is less inhibited by styles and peer pressure. The older man is secure in who he is, and is not afraid to stand out in a crowd. If anyone laughs at his bold colors, he is glad to join in the laughter.

I personally find that loud colors, in shirts or socks or ties, can really lift my own spirits. Why dress in somber colors because of adverse weather? Why let a day of dull meetings keep you from wearing socks in a wild pattern? If I can play a part in brightening up the day for those around me, I'm inclined to do it!

I'm sure of who I am, a Christian alive in Christ. I'll be glad to wear bright colors, or even a bow tie.

Just don't expect me to wear plaid.

"In Him was life, and the life was the light of all men." John 1:4
