Forget Me or Them?

It has been an unusually warm winter here in Georgia. Our Georgia groundhog weather predictor, General Beauregard Lee, tells us that spring will be early this year. I'm loving it!

There have been very few days when I could not walk my big dog, Alfie, just wearing shorts and a tee shirt. I've gotten a lot of long sessions of pitching horseshoes in.

Peach growers in the South hate this weather! Most varieties of peaches require something like a thousand hours of cool weather to develop properly (at least under fifty degrees). We are way short of the required hours.

Now, I love peaches. I can eat a half dozen at a time.

So how do I pray? I want the farmers to have a good crop, and I certainly want a long and wonderful peach season. On the other hand, I much prefer temperatures of at least seventy degrees.

The Bible is very clear that you are to 'love your neighbor as yourself.' It doesn't say to love your neighbor instead of yourself. Are you supposed to be praying for both, even though James 1:8 says that a double-minded man must not expect anything from the Lord?

Sometimes we just have to rely on those four words from the Lord's Prayer: "Thy will be done."
