Be a Better Winner
Some people are not made to be winners. They just can't seem to handle it.
You know the type. In victory, they seem to lord it over ordinary people like you and me. How can they not win? They are so perfect, so intelligent, so athletic, etc. And when they don't win, well, it's either someone else's fault or they just had a bad day.
I like a humble winner. I especially like those that give God praise for His hand in their victory. "It is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves," Psalm 100:3. And no one makes it to the top without others helping, either by coaching or by providing encouragement or backing.
For those that don't win, they don't need the victor demeaning them. There will be other days when the roles are reversed. The Golden Rule applies: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
All are victors, when they've trained hard and done their best. How about congratulating each other? Enjoy the winning (that helps us drive to be our best), but aim for a bigger prize.
"Do you not know that all the runners in a stadium compete, but only one receives the prize? So run to win. Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.." I Corinthians 9:24-25
