Stop the Sun

I'm in a Bible study right now that is considering miracles. Does God still do them? Can we expect them? Can we ask for them?

I'm not surprised that many of my classmates have experienced miracles, or known of someone that has had a miracle happen in their life. I've known some myself. Lots of them.

Jesus told us that nothing is impossible with God.

But one thing people agree that God cannot do. Oh, they don't say it, but you can hear it in everyday conversation. God cannot create time.

There are twenty-four hours in a day, seven days in a week, three hundred sixty-five days in a year. God may help you make better choices on how to use your time, and may help you get things done more efficiently, but God can't make time. And yet, nothing is impossible with God.

In Joshua 10, Joshua has the audacity to ask God to make the sun stand still, so he can complete what he's doing. AND GOD MADE THE SUN STAND STILL IN THE SKY FOR A WHOLE DAY!

I have to wonder if my excuses with God, about not having enough time to do what He says, will actually hold water. If I really couldn't do what He asked, He could create more time.

"But for God, all things are possible." Matthew 19:26
