Save the Shoes
I'd been waiting for this. Finally, after a year of checking shoe stores and perusing ads, my favorite brand of running shoes was on sale. Amazon had them at the lowest price I've seen lately.
I quickly ordered them, and they arrived three days later. Wow, I didn't expect quite as much color! The shoe is gray, but it has red steaks on the bottom, and a red stripe that runs the length of each shoe lace.
I decide to try them out at a half-hour tennis outing. I was not disappointed. They are great! The comfort is amazing.
When I got home, I carefully placed these wonderful shoes back in their box. I love the feeling of owning them, but I'll make them wait until my present shoes wear out.
I feel guilty. Is it like not using abilities God has given me? Like not sharing the good news, that God has made a way for new life in Jesus Christ? Or is it just good stewardship of what God has blessed me with?
Everything is not a symbol. Sometimes shoes are just shoes.
