Never, Never Give Up

When you're at the end of your rope, many emotions surge to the forefront. Desperation is one of the first that comes to mind. Resolve, of course: "If I get out of this mess, I'll never let myself get in this situation again." Then there is regret: "I should have trusted in something else."

We usually find a way to get through a desperate situation, and find that the ordeal has built some great qualities in us. When things don't work out well, though, we at least gain the wisdom to do things differently next time.

Faith in God's ability to get us through any adverse situation, because of God's great love for us, has alot to do with tenacity, just holding on. If you read straight through Psalm 119, the longest book in the Bible, you'll find it's a back-and-forth struggle between trust and desperate pleas for help. "I trust God's word," then, "My situation is getting desperate. When are you going to save me, God?"

There are lessons of faith you will never learn until you have to depend on more than your own ability.
