Just Throw It Out

I was taught, as a child, to eat everything on my plate. I'll bet you were, too.

I think it showed respect for all the work Mom did in preparing our meals. It also helped immensely in our getting a balanced diet. If we filled up at meal times, we wouldn't be looking for less nutritious snacks to fill our stomachs later.

It sticks with us! Even though most restaurants serve you much more than you would normally eat at home, it's hard to leave any on the plate. We've been conditioned by good parents. Of course, we also want to be sure to get everything we paid for!

Since it would cost the same if we left part of the meal on our plates, and we'd feel better about ourselves later, why don't we just leave what we don't need?

The Bible tells us to get rid of excess baggage, bad habits, things that won't help us get ourselves or other people closer to God. Maybe I can't make a good argument for overeating being a keeper.
