God is Here Someplace
Maybe you remember the Bible story, "Jacob's Ladder," from Genesis 28. Jacob got his twin brother, Esau, extremely mad at him. It was just a little thing. Jacob had cheated his brother out of half his inheritance and his father's blessing.
The bottom line: Esau threatened to kill Jacob, so Jacob got out of town as fast as he could.
Now, there's nothing wrong with getting out of town. Isn't that what vacation is? We just don't want to be chased away!
When Jacob stopped for the night, he had a dream of a ladder extending from heaven to earth, with angels ascending and descending on it. When Jacob awoke, he realized, "Wow, God is in the place, too, and I just never knew it!" That was an important discovery for Jacob. God is everywhere.
Did you know that? When you head out of town on vacation, God is also present at the beach or in the mountains or wherever you spend your time.
If you're out of town on Sunday, go to church. You have not left God behind.
