Wanting to Run
Okay. You've had that incredible call from God. You know exactly what God wants you to do in His service. What next?
Perhaps it's obvious that now is the time. For some of us, though, we can tell that God is wanting us to wait for the proper time.
What we really want to do is run, run to the battle.
Remember how most footraces started when you were a kid? "Ready, set, go!" It was the only fair way to begin. If you just yelled, "Go!" you had an unfair advantage, and the race results didn't really count.
If God calls you, and says, "but wait," like he did when I was called into the ministry, the only sensible thing to do is get ready. It may mean you need to study, or pray, or tie up loose ends. Once you're past the "ready' state, then just be set. Being set means staying on your mark, ready to take off at the perfect time. Now, that part is tough!
When you're ready, and set, waiting to go, that may be when you grow in one of a Christian's greatest virtues. Patience.
