It's Time for What?

It must be spring. Our horseshoes pitching

club's season starts Monday! I'm pretty excited!

What a broken road of sports participation I've traveled! As an adult, my first great love was volleyball, when my wife and I lived a couple years in the Philadelphia suburbs. When we moved to Georgia, it was running and softball.

During my early ministry years, my son and I played alot of basketball. I also played tennis for a couple hours every Monday morning.

For the past decade, I have loved basketball, although it is usually just 'solitaire,' shooting baskets by myself. I also spent time regularly on darts.

Now my biggest interest is horseshoes. No longer is it just flinging iron in the back yard; it has blossomed into league play and tournaments.

Remember Ecclesiastes 3:1? "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven." I still miss softball at times, and I'm tempted also to run just one more 5K run sometime soon. This is the time for horseshoes, though, the right situation and the right friends.

Even in the church, there is a time for everything. Songs get replaced by newer ones, casual attire takes the place of "Sunday best," automatic withdrawal takes the place of offering envelopes.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God was creative in the beginning, and God is still making life new every day.
