Coffee of the Soul

Coffee and I have been close friends for years. Sometimes we have perhaps been too close. When I get beyond two quarts in one day, my muscles start to twitch!

Nothing compares to the aroma of black coffee, and there is no better hand warmer than a mug of hot coffee held between your hands.

I love the taste. That's why I don't use cream or sugar in my coffee; that would lessen the coffee taste.

Most of all, I think most of us love coffee for the way it makes our drowsiness disappear. After a little coffee, I am much more aware of the things around me. Pre-coffee, I can miss alot.

I need spiritual coffee, too, something that will open my eyes to all God is doing around me. I need a little jolt, you know?

My spiritual coffee is found in my morning prayer time. Like anybody else, part of my prayer is laying my needs before God, asking for help and guidance, but that's not the spiritual coffee. It's when I get quiet, and let God speak to me, that I get my needed jolt. Sometimes God speaks words to my heart, sometimes I sense His direction in a decision that is coming up, and sometimes it's just feeling God's presence in the silence.

It's spiritual coffee, knowing God is there with me. I've got to have it every morning. So far, I haven't found a limit, that will make my muscles twitch!
