God In Control

Could it be that we've got a control problem?

For heaven's sake, when we became Christians, we asked Jesus to be our Lord. We asked Him to take control, to take the steering wheel, to be the driver in our life's journey. Ever since that day, we've been doing our best to not completely let go. How can we say we want Jesus to be Lord, and yet try to be in charge of what He gets to be in charge of?

It seems to me that giving the Lord control of our lives is a continuous thing. When we're first saved, we think we've totally given up being in control of our own lives, yet every day we find another area we have to surrender to Christ.

That's what the Bible means when it says to "work out your own salvation." Every day we must do the work of bringing His light to a new corner of our lives that has managed to stay in darkness.

We're more saved every day, and that's a good thing.
