Knock, Knock. Who's There?

Opportunity knocks from time to time. It doesn't always ring the doorbell, though it's right there. It doesn't always knock on the right door, either. Sometimes opportunity just lightly taps on the window.

My goodness, if opportunity had the good sense to knock in the proper fashion, on the right door, when we were paying attention and ready to listen, and loud enough for anybody to recognize that it was indeed opportunity that was knocking , well, usually we'd open the door. Usually.

Instead, opportunity goes begging. It seems that those least likely to make full use of an opportuity are those that answer. What a shame.

I suppose it's the biggest shame when we're talking about an opportunity to reach others with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Evangelism is an opportunity to change lives, now and eternally. Perhaps we could see that it was opportunity, but thought someone else in the church (or some other church) would surely answer the door.
